GENERAC Standby Generators
Enjoy the conveniences of home, even during a power outage, with a GENERAC standby generator. Unlike portable generators, a GENERAC standby unit automatically supplies electricity to your home when the supply from your utility is cut off. GENERAC’s system monitors the flow of electricity to your home 24 hours a day, and when utility power fails, an automatic transfer switch disconnects your power supply from the utility feed wires and connects it to the generator feed. The auto-disconnect feature prevents electricity from back-feeding from your home into the utility company’s distribution system, where it can jeopardize the lives of linemen and other workers.

Once your home becomes disconnected from the utility’s distribution system, the GENERAC generator goes to work, powered by your propane or natural gas supply. The generator converts propane or natural gas into electricity that energizes select circuits in your home. When the outage is over, the GENERAC unit automatically turns off and switches the feed back to your utility’s distribution system. The generator then returns to standby mode, ready to power-up when needed. The GENERAC unit also automatically performs a weekly maintenance routine when not in use. The unit will switch on for approximately six minutes to lubricate the engine, charge the battery and perform a diagnostic check.
